Happy New Year to you, and let’s hope this one will be much better. If we’re being honest, few will look back on 2024 with any fondness. Terrible weather, global conflicts and tough market conditions made it a difficult twelve months. But this is the season where we all think about what we will do differently this year. So what will be your New Year Resolution?
We would like to suggest making this year the time when retail fights back. Attracting shoppers to your store will not be easy. But getting the basics right can make a big difference. And the first thing to look at is your signage. Are you giving it the best chance to promote your business? And will it continue to do so safely and effectively this year?
We have barely finished the first week of the year and the country has been hit by snow. While it was for most not a serious downfall, the covering will have impacted many signs already in need of attention. The creeping damp and cold will worsen broken seals and rotted facias. Those two issues alone are the biggest causes behind signs failing. They are the two biggest reasons for callouts for us during 2024. This year we expect more of the same. We are proud that our work has reduced the risk of someone being injured from a falling sign. But we are certain there will be many more in the year ahead.
Grabbing Attention
Beyond basic safety, is your signage really grabbing attention? Lighting is so important for signage, socially during the longer nights. LED lighting makes your signs much brighter and cheaper to use. You can even choose to add effects to make your signage even more noticeable.
Perhaps even more fundamentally, when was the last time your signs were cleaned? It’s amazing how fast a sign can start to fade due to air pollutants and dirt. While it may sound simple to do, cleaning your signs is not as straightforward as it sounds. The wrong cleaning chemicals can cause more harm than good, and severely shorten the life of your signage. Plus, as cleaning often means working at height, along with the public milling around, you have to make sure this is done properly to minimise risk to others.
Be Kinder To The Planet
We do talk about this a lot, but there is a very good reason why. Signs contain a number of materials, and older signs are not easy to recycle. Plus, if your signs are still using fluorescent tubes for lighting, they are very bad to the environment. Better use of vinyls and printing inks, along with aluminium or stainless steel for edging and framing, is a big step towards making your signage better for the planet.
If your signs have problems, don’t panic. The issues you have are also at the core of our services. With the UK’s biggest network of highly experienced engineers, our expertise and track record in signage maintenance will take the pressure away in keeping your signage safe and looking amazing. So if you’re thinking what will be your New Year resolution, calling us should be at the top of your list.
But for now, we wish you all a Happy New Year. Here’s to a wonderful 2025 for you all.
